Recognize
Our Heritage
Over 100 years ago, universities discovered that the best way to introduce improved farming practices was through young people who were more open to new ideas and would share these ideas with adults. The idea of practical and “hands-on” learning came from the desire to connect public school education to agricultural life.
Unique
Stewardship
The livestock raised by youth live the very best life on earth, and our young people learn endless life lessons along that journey. Young people take so much pride in caring for their animals, and they make great stewards of livestock for many reasons.

Tomorrow's
Leaders
4-H offers programs in science, healthy living and civic engagement all backed by the Montana State University Extension Service and a community of 4‑H volunteers. Through hands-on learning, kids build not only confidence, creativity and curiosity, but also life skills such as leadership and resiliency to help them thrive today and tomorrow.
As a buyer, your participation in the sale encourages and recognizes these youth for their time and effort that has gone into raising these animals.
As a business owner, you are giving back to your community, supporting the local economy, receiving advertising benefits, and may be eligible for tax benefits*.
The impact you are providing is truly invaluable and means so much to the 4-H'ers, their families and the volunteers. Plus, the excitement of the auction, supporting a great cause and the camaraderie of the community make for an enjoyable experience you will be proud to be part of!

ADD TO YOUR OWN HERD
There are many options on what to do with the animal once you have purchased it from the 4-H Livestock Sale and the meat is processed.
Ideas include filling your own freezer with local, home-grown meat; gifting to employees as a bonus; hosting a company picnic with the meat as the main entrée; donating to Food Share or God's Love; and much more.
If you wish to take the animal home, that is also an option. Some buyers purchase female animals to use in their own breeding program while others just wish to give the animal a home to live out their life.
